Re: Drake Ravensmith's build
We used keyboard slides over drawer slides because the tabs create a sort of automatic alignment. There really is no great danger of putting one or both of them on wrong and potentially wrecking the wood trying to get a perfect fit. As I recall, the slides were difficult to find. We had to order the...

Re: Drake Ravensmith's build
Interesting... That would imply that the problem could be solved by installing them upside down so when the platen is at the rest the slides are fully extended. I'm assuming the weight could nudge past that occasional hiccup.

Re: scanning and downloading at the same time
My extension cables haven't shown up but I needed some reshoots so I did a full scanning session and I can tell you that simply turning the cameras on and off a couple times in quick succession won't clear them. I tried both shooting and playback mode. Couldn't say why.

Re: scanning and downloading at the same time
I finally got this endless memory mode problem sorted out. Camera makers don't care about eye fi cards. Therefore they don't even begin to understand the concept of a memory card whose contents could change while the camera is on. They design their software accordingly. Eye fi has to work around thi...

Re: README: Change your password.
Something to keep in mind about how "measly" a site we are. People, and I have been guilty of this in the past, are really stupid when it comes to passwords. Since we have to remember passwords, people tend to use the same passwords for various sites or variations of the same passwords. We...

Re: How to alternate between 2 tethered cameras with trigger
Go to page two of my build thread. There is a photo showing how I placed my camera trigger on the floor so I can hit it with my foot. Most canon cameras can be connected directly to tvs. Many of the newer, 12 or higher megapixels cameras do have one limitations. They don't have a separate port for t...

Re: How to alternate between 2 tethered cameras with trigger
I don't know anything at all about tethering cameras. Nothing. What I have read on the subject on this forum would suggest that what you want isn't possible. I don't think anyone has gotten two cameras tethered to a computer as camera tethering is somewhat difficult to begin with. But I don't know f...

I'm glad you got your time lapse problem sorted out. I wonder if you seen either Daniel's original book scanner instructional or glanced over mine. http://diybookscanner.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1028&hilit=sd+extension+cable I basically copied Daniel's camera settings since we were bot...

Re: Drake Ravensmith's build
After having scanned some stuff over the course of several months, I have decided that I was not happy with my camera mounts. They're just too hard to get back into position after being moved and they don't always stay in position after the scanner has been vibrating a bit. Coincidentally, I also de...

Re: scanning and downloading at the same time
So, sorry for asking a question like this, but what you've learned here is that Eye-Fi cards can keep up with normal scanning speeds, given an 8 megapixel camera? I've just completed a scanning session with my new a650 is cameras. The 12MP jpegs average out to about 4.7MBs per shot. I did six 400 p...
