I was looking around on youtube and book scanning stuff always comes up. This one intrigued me. I think they are using the scaling from the ruler on the platen to correct the image.

Today I fixed the book craidle. I solved the issue by putting a board on the bottom that is atached to the slides and then screwing the previousely fixed side to the board. It's basicly the same set up I had, but now it's on a board to support it instead of the metal bars. I'll post some pics in a w...

It sounds to me what you really want is an optical engineering degree. I hear the university of Arizona has a good program. That may be a little fare from home though.

I ment to write about not using such a fine thread. On mine it takes like 50 turns to go a 1/2in its kind of a pain. I think I'll just epoxy a crew in my handle so I can turn mine with a drill.

Actually, I only have a jigsaw and a drill. Moreover, I do not have a workbench or any other working surface except for a floor in my basement. I wish I could have access to a table saw.
