Re: software for handwritten manuscript?

I know of no programming that will read handwriting. You might have better luck using voice recognition software. In the past I have found the time it takes to proofread voice recognition results might be better used to simply type the document in by hand. It would still be useful to have digital co...

What's the cost of shipping your kit to the USA? I went to your website & read through it, but didn't find mention of specific amounts, just a range.

Re: Uneven light

I'm not really particular about my color balance, but I do like adequate brightness and even lighting.
I have a couple of large windows I can work near. The best light I've used is from an overcast sky from about 1000 to 1600 every day. Can't beat the price of this lighting!

Re: Tact Switch Woes

I'm wondering if there is software to trigger the camera. I run linux but can run OSX and windows. I have a USB cable to the camera.
What camera do you have?

Re: Looking For Ideas on my DestroTech

I've done something very similar to your method. Last year I bought a Canon P-150 "Scantini". It costs about half as much as a Canon DR-2010C, will automatically take in a stack of 20 pages, scan both sides & send the results to a connected computer. Software & processing after tha...

Re: Epoxy putty, relative ease

I have been trying to remember my original type of epoxy putty I used years ago. Since then Walmart has changed the labeling on the packages it sells & I can't be sure the same material is now on sale. I don't have the original packaging, just the material stored in a ziplock bag. Once removed f...

Re: Nikon D3200

I have a D3100. I tried using it to copy about 200 pages out of a paperback. Camera was mounted on a tripod & I used an aftermarket shutter release similar to the one supplied by Nikon. There was nothing elaborate about my method. I had focused on the book, held it open by one hand on a flat sur...

Re: Tutorial: atx power supply -> camera power supply

A suggestion in lieu of tooling a wooden block: use epoxy putty instead. It can be roughly formed and molded by hand until it hardens about an hour after being mixed. Wires and contacts can be simply "squished" into the block of putty. The only critical part is the size & spacing of th...

Re: Camera Triggering

Looks like your subroutine might even work with no scanner device at all, simply by mounting the camera on a tripod looking down on the book and then flipping the pages by hand. Did you ever try that?
