Re: University of Tokyo "page flip" scanner video
There are other possibilities, like pooling our resources, building a king-hell book scanner, and shipping it around to digitize all our libraries. I've often thought that we, as a community, could pool our workshops and make all the parts for scanners super-cheap, and sell them to each other. Spea...

Re: The New "Standard Scanner"
What is the cost of the drawer slides used for platen glass lifting/dropping?
The reason I ask is related to the method of lifting and dropping the platen onto the book. Beta uses linear bearings made from two PVCs, one inside the other. This is crazy inexpensive!

Tori, your timing couldn't be any better. Welcome! I'm producing a next-generation scanner hardware tutorial . The idea is to bring some of the better hardware ideas from the forum into a concrete form usable by people who haven't read every.last.post. As far as your points about the forum and docu...

Re: Post something about yourself here (The Hello Thread)
Hi guys, I'm Tori. I am currently a Computer Science and Mathematics undergraduate at Missouri S&T, and I am also an (inactive) developer of the ScanTailor project. I haven't done anything for the software yet; I'm still familiarizing myself with the source code to date. I'm also working on a pr...
