Re: Scanning/processing on Android phone/tablet
Without reading your post about your excellent efforts on building an Android application for scanning I found earlier this year in 2020 an Android app called vFlat which does a pretty good job making a picture, removing fingers and correct some warping of the page. Go look here: https://play.google...

Re: Nice Archivist build post at the r/datahoarder subreddit
My I suggest to adjust colour in your yearbooks. In photoshop and Lightroom you can tell that the background (the page itself) is white. Especially in Lightroom you can do the complete book in 1 time so the whole book has white pages instead of the faded yellow. Also adjusting sharpness will make a ...

Re: glass platen construction
I think they will be called glass door hinges. I looked them up in my country. https://www.rvs-products.nl/p/glasdeurbeslag/glasdeurscharnieren/glasdeurscharnier-voor-glasdikte-8-10-mm-antraciet/ These will need holes in the glass to attach the hinge making it more expensive because of the holes. An...

Here is the link: http://www.kaiser-fototechnik.de/en/produkte/2_1_produktanzeige.asp?nr=5904 Beside this you also need to buy a photostand depicted in the sample pictures. Those are expensive, but can be bought 2nd ...

Re: New project inspired from Hiroshi Yanagisawa's project
Very interesting, I have been looking to the youtube file and noticed that this gentlemen has his platen at 110 degrees (4.15 min into the video) which Daniel said would be the best angle to reduce reflection. Only pity that his blog now has more recent posts and since I can not read Japanese it is ...
