Re: Correcting for perspective distortion

Coincidentally, I also started playing with OpenCV in the past couple of weeks, though with C++ rather than Python. I hope you will post the details of how you overcame the problems you encountered, and I'll try to find that OG200 post you referenced as well. Unless I'm missing something, if you hav...

Re: My camera-on-glass-platen counterweighted G2

I have actually gone through a couple of scanners since this one -- currently, I still use a portable "table-top" scanner, primarily for magazines and other material which has material of interest extending into the middle margins, and a more traditional "V-cradle" scanner with n...

Re: Capture software...

I was not very impressed by CHDK -- sometimes triggers would be missed.
I had the same problem, but I really think the problem was in the electronics, not in CHDK. Since I've started using my CHDK timer script, I haven't had a problem with missed shots.

Re: ScanTailor problem

I re-read your question, and I think something needs to be clarified. When you say "nothing is happening as it should" do you mean nothing happens, or do you mean something happens but not what you wanted to happen? If Scan Tailor is marking the rest of the book, but not where you think it...

Re: ScanTailor problem

I haven't used Scan Tailor for awhile, but I recall this working properly for me. What operating system and version of Scan Tailor are you using?

Re: light washes out text AND noise in photoshop not in ST

When I say "robust", I mean a script that will provide the results you want over a diverse set of inputs. I have only done a little work with Photoshop scripts, so you probably know more about them than I do -- I would have thought the "magic wand" tool would be something you cou...

Re: light washes out text AND noise in photoshop not in ST

A white page will appear gray if it's photographed with a short exposure, and a gray page will appear white if it's photographed with a long exposure. You are correct that a black-backed page will not appear as bright as a random-page-backed page, but as you note it does equalize the background and ...

Re: light washes out text AND noise in photoshop not in ST

The washed-out text is (IMO) due to reflection/glare from the light which also appears in the photograph. If you adjust your lights or cameras so that light doesn't appear, it should resolve the washed-out text problem. I would say that the black piece of paper under the page you're shooting would b...

Re: Two Camera/One Switch Solution (Finally)

The script as shown doesn't have a half-second delay between the two cameras. It should be firing the cameras simultaneously, or close to it. If you're getting a half-second delay, it may be that one of the cameras is taking time to autofocus, while the other is not. That is probably not what you wa...
