Need Tech Help: Sheet-fed scanner maintenance/squeaking

Built a scanner? Started to build a scanner? Record your progress here. Doesn't need to be a whole scanner - triggers and other parts are fine. Commercial scanners are fine too.

Need Tech Help: Sheet-fed scanner maintenance/squeaking

Post by mfmonk »

I have a sheet fed scanner, a Canon DR-2010C and here are my problems:
1) lately it has began to squeak when scanning. Does anyone know how to fix this/lubricate the rollers that are squeaking? What do I use to lubricate them with? As long as I know the lubricant, I will just lubricate everything.

2) I think my rollers could use replacing soon, but I am looking for a cheap way to extend the rollers that I have. Does anyone have any ideas?
Some kind of protectant spray?

For grease, you want to use something that's correct for plastics, most likely. I would use a PTFE based grease, like this.
