Real-time OCR and Text-to-Speech with automatic page turning

Built a scanner? Started to build a scanner? Record your progress here. Doesn't need to be a whole scanner - triggers and other parts are fine. Commercial scanners are fine too.

Real-time OCR and Text-to-Speech with automatic page turning

Post by MerlinMags »

This project seems partly insane but partly admirable. I'll leave you to make up your own minds.

There's a camera, Raspberry Pi, and some Lego Mindstorms components used to flip a page, OCR, then read the words out loud with TTS (text-to-speech software). Nothing is stored, this is purely to read the book to you if you are too lazy to turn the pages.

Can we learn anything from this?!
