"Built" a single page book scanner for $0. If your camera is flat and already has a remote trigger, you don't need a single tool. Actually, even if it doesn't, you could conceivably get away with running it on 10 second auto trigger. Broke my camera while being clever with a soldering iron so I had to make this ghetto ass drawing in ghetto ass Paintbrush. All this mad ghetto cred got to my head (like crack) and I made a pdf, yo.
Most simple / cheap "design" yet?

Re: Ghetto ass scanner
By the way, scanned a 340 page book in about 40 minutes, turning it 180 degrees between pages and doing the pages sequentially. The mediocre speed is offset by simplicity of construction and that it is probably the cheapest book scanner possible. I only wanted to scan this one book anyway. At the beginning and the end of the book you have to press down with your palm spread over the cover to keep the pages flush against the glass. No page needed to be re-shot.
