Fair enough. Thanks for your time and effort spent provided we lesser-skilled folks with resources to hopefully pass along for someone to duplicate.
Look forward to seeing whatever stuff you come up with in the future.

Dan, there's a lot of unemployed guys out there. I suppose at least one of them has enough mechanical aptitude to follow your designs. If anyone comes to mind, then arrange an introduction with the most worthy of those five such requesters. If everyone's satisfied, do it again.daniel_reetz wrote:I've gotten no less than five such requests in the last hour so I have yo make this clear: My time and this scanner are not and will not ever be for sale. I will not make scanners for anyone.

Re: My 3rd Generation Scanner Build Thread
Based on the photos of Daniel's bookscan I did this digital version, not with final details in place, but I would like your comments. A missed a lot of boarders for the screw system used and other things. The file can be openned in Google Sketchup 7, but I can send a pdf if someone ask for.
I am planning to build a bookscan for myself. Between this V3 or another model that uses just one camera.
With great appreciation of Scantailor, I am following the developments. I believe the latest dewarp tool and good focus can deliver unique images in a V stand, prepared to be transformed in a good output.

Great! Could you please post some JPG images from the file? I can't download Sketchup at work to see what you've done.

Here are some views of the 3D module for your comments. I hope it can be better detailed to incorporate the solution you did.

Re: My 3rd Generation Scanner Build Thread
Wow! This is really beautifully done. I hope to share the actual vector artwork by the end of the month. It might be a little messy, but you've copied the design really well. All my stuff was done in Corel Draw, but I can make DXF or whatever, too.
I wish I had more time. Right now the vector artwork is a mess. Do you mind sorting through it? Do you have access to Corel Draw X4?

You can send me the CorelDraw artwork in the version you have. If it is 3d model it is better to have in the original format, but if it is 2d you can save it as Adobe illustrator and it would speed things up for me.

Re: My 3rd Generation Scanner Build Thread
I'll upload a ZIP file of the artwork in the next couple of days. It's 2d, Corel Draw .CDR. I did all the 3D modeling in my head.
Are you interested in working with me on an open-source licensed artwork package? Our user "Scrivener" had some thoughts about licensing... the basic idea would be to maintain just a little control over the artwork, but otherwise to share it as publicly as possible.

Holy wowzers, that's awesome! What would be ha ha only serious is to make a set of Ikea-like instructions on assembling the thing. And then Dan could print out a few kits and sell them to deserving folks

Re: My 3rd Generation Scanner Build Thread
I'm looking for specs of a laser cutter and Daniel had shown the work he did with his. I know most of these machines, specially the most affordable ones, generate controls based in 2d Drawings input. I am interested in learning about them.
I didn't think the 3d model would make much, but if it did I am also happy and I hope we can help to produce a GPL of V3.
