Removable Battery Door A480

Post by jck57 »

Wanted battery door off so I could use SD card extension cables. Carved away plastic to reveal end of battery door hinge pin. Slid pin out with edge of knife. Replaced pin with bent wire to make it easier to take the door on and off.

Yeah, that's handy.

If the 480 is anything like my 495 (and it looks like a similar case), you can take out the small phillips screws holding the back on, and then remove that door completely, without having to cut the case to get at the hinge pin. HomeDespot has the small screwdriver sets that fit those screws. I suppose you could also drill a small hole for your new 'L' shaped pin instead of notching the case material

I tore one of my A495s to pieces one evening to try to get at the switch for the shutter but needed a break-out connector for those flat mylar ribbon cables connecting the boards. I gave up and put it all back together and left the battery door off by mistake. Surprisingly the thing still works after my disassembly/reassembly exercise.
