I could be wrong, but it seems to me that a camera which can be controlled via wifi by a smart phone could also be controlled by wifi from a computer. 18 or 20 megapixels. The biggest downside from my perspective is that they're unlikely to run on AC, and I don't see any mention of battery life. Maybe when the cameras are finally announced...

I saw these as well. I think they're really intriguing. The only thing is, I doubt that they are made so you can connect more than one to any given device. But I'll buy one if the early reviews look at all promising.

Looks like Sony will be providing a reasonable way to control these cameras (and others)

That looks neat!
From looking at the API documentation [1], it seems that it's not very powerful. It's basically restricted to the following actions:
It seems currently the only supported model is the HDR-AS15, and it only supports live view and movie recording (which is pretty weird, if you ask me...)

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to connect more than one to a device. They're basically just wireless servers in your LAN with an API that you can talk to.The only thing is, I doubt that they are made so you can connect more than one to any given device. But I'll buy one if the early reviews look at all promising.

Re: Sony QX10 and QX100
Half a year later, did anyone succeed to A. Connect these cameras to a laptop, rather than a smartphone? B. Connect more than one camera at the same time?
Re: Sony QX10 and QX100
SONY API was updated this week. QX10 and QX100 have more functions supported.

Re: Sony QX10 and QX100
I ran into this video of what looks very much like a clone of the Sony device.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG5y6NjG84k , Amkov JQ-1
Sells for around 100$ . Information says both 14Mpx and 20Mpx, not sure which is accurate.
