There is an alpha (maybe unstable) version here http://mighty-hoernsche.de/trunk/ and also linked here http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/A1400

A1400 works with CHDK. if you find any bug, please report it to A1400 porting thread.

Are these the best versions to use? Is there anything stable, well-used, a 'for sure' version?dtic wrote:There is an alpha (maybe unstable) version here http://mighty-hoernsche.de/trunk/ and also linked here http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/A1400

Canon Powershot a1400
Looking at that.
Will it work to have it set up to take pictures, triggered from a computer?
Will it work to copy pics off the camera over usb to a computer?
Will it get power over usb vs. messing with rechargeable batteries?
I'm looking at a set up where I just plug it in -- Plug in the scanner lights, plug these cameras in usb ports on the computer. And then not touch or mess with the cameras themselves.
Or for power, is there some kind of aftermarket addon that would take the place of rechargeable batteries? Same idea, don't mess with batteries.
And what type of SD card would you recommend? Something where I could set the book page, hit the computer to take two pics at once, flip the page, click the camera through the computer, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Interesting.
Looks like the Canon a2200 has a power adapter option available.

bsbob, I'm glad you're excited about book scanning but please do not post a separate thread for every question you have. I merged your A1400 questions here. Please search the forums for answers, many of the questions you have here have been rehashed many times. The Google site-specific search is great if the search box in the top right doesn't find what you need. Thanks.
