Homebrew power adapter for Powershot 2000 or others

Post by ken_grunke »

Hi folks, my first post on this forum. I just bought a Powershot 2000 camera on ebay, it didn't come with a power adapter so I am thinking of cobbling up my own. I have a DC-DC switching buck regulator converter board which I want to hook up to a cordless drill battery to use in my not-yet-built bookscanner. These are commonly available on ebay for very cheap.

Does anyone have the specs for the camera's jack and what kind of plug I need for it? I can get an adapter for $12 but would rather just buy two plugs as I will be getting another Powershot soon. I'm a cheapskate! :D Only paid $30 for the first camera, and there's another one coming up in the same price range.
Thanks!
