The Dagg Center for the Blind Book Scanner
My wife came home after a recent back surgery with this walker. Her recovery is going well and so, praise the Lord she doesn't need it anymore. I attached a shop lamp, and two bike mounts conveniently hold the two Cannon PowerShot Ellph 180 cameras in place. AC adapters power the cameras and USB cab...

Run Spreads on Raspberry Pi 4?
Can Spreads run on a Raspberry Pi 4? If so, I may need a little help. I am wanting to build me a book scanner. I bought a Raspberry Pi 4. I went ahead and got the 8GB version in a CanaKit that comes with cables, case, the OS already pre-installed on a microSD card... the whole works. I plugged it al...

WiFi Cameras
I am looking at building my first DIY Book Scanner rig. I'm considering a WiFi enabled camera like the Canon PowerShot SX720 HS . https://amzn.to/2PTKdU9 What do y'all think? Has anyone tried that? Flat Platen
I have a commercial overhead book scanning camera. It works pretty well, but the weakness is that it is hard to hold the pages flat. And I don't like my fingers in the shots. I am considering building some sort of flat platen that could hold the pages down better, and still use my single camera stan...

Re: Are DIY Book Scanners better than commercial scanners?
Thanks Jonathon. That is very helpful.
I think I will probably end up building a DIY scanner. My set up does relativly well, but I think I might could get better results with something like y'all are doing here. And plus, it looks very fun.

Are DIY Book Scanners better than commercial scanners?
I am new here and I love what y'all are doing. I am legally blind and have been scanning books for over 25 years. I OCR them and run them through voice synthesis, so I can read them. In the old days I used a flat bed scanner. I now use a product by Freedom Scientific, which is a camera mounted on a ...
