External power supply A590is
hi, long time since I've been here. I looking for ways to supply my A590is with external power of batteries. After searching the net I found out which plug to use and how much voltage it needs. The canon AC power adapter has a EIAJ-01 plug which has a 2.35mm outer diametre and supplies 3,15v. I coul...

Re: Woeka's build
It gives me about 30 cm of vertical space, which should be enough to turn the page.
I'm planning to put the cameras and lighting on the platen itself, so there would be no shadows.

Re: My first book scanner.
That's a very nice idea for holding a book. Just putting some sliders beneath and some screw-like-thingy to be able to adjust for the thickness of the book and you're done. Definitely something I'm going to use on my bookscanner.

Re: My first book scanner.
It looks nice, but I'm wondering if the slide in the front is not making it hard to flip the page?
I've not build or used a scanner myself so maybe someone who did can collaborate on that..

Re: Post something about yourself here (The Hello Thread)
It's really nice to see your collection of scanned books online. Eventually, I will be posting a significant number of books I've scanned, too. The only way of really sharing. However the directory is excluded from indexing by search engines because I'm wondering if all is legal Since you're intere...

Re: Post something about yourself here (The Hello Thread)
Here something about me: I'm Joris from the Netherlands and almost graduated as a civil engineer but already working as a geohydrologist (groundwater and stuff). One of my interests is living history (re-enactment) and from time to time you can find my walking around as Viking. As such I'm very inte...

Re: The Camera Thread
There are also reasonable priced 4mp webcams avaiable here in the Netherlands for €25 ($36), 8mp webcams are a bit more expensive €45 ($65) but still half the price of an A590 IS.

Re: height
My logic would be as close as possible and certainly without any digital zoom. I think it really depends on the camera you've got.
