Re: Scanner speed - what is reasonable?
I currently use OpticBook 3600. Scanning speed on that scanner depends on the size of the book and weight. I recently scanned a book that measured 11 x 9 inches and weighted 8 pounds, it was a pain to scan and the speed was about 3,5 pages per minute. I had to scan some before and after work to get ...

Re: Glare Reduction Techniques
Mineral glass generally have higher light transmission than plastic and are heavier, in my opinion this is the type of material to use. Mineral glass is generally more vulnerable to cracking if it is exposed to an high impact blow. When you make the glass more thick light transmission gets reduced o...

Re: Glare Reduction Technique via Lamp Hardware Mod
@univurshul: I'm refering to lux. I may have expressed myself a bit incorrectly: what I meant was that if the light has to move through a diffusor, some of the light will be reflected back and this will make less photons land on the page. However the diffusor will make the light more scattered("...

The lamp looks neat!
How about trying using a diffuser, this will make the light spread more evenly across the page. This will reduce the light intensity a bit, but you can probably have your light source closer to the book.

Re: auto page turner prototype
Looks very good! When is the instruction ready?
What is it with the automation of the platen that is troubling you?
I have no engineer background, but what about a "bike pump" that gets filled with air and by that way levelling the platen up and down. Or a string on a wheel?

Re: Post something about yourself here (The Hello Thread)
Hello folks! I live in Norway, and work here as an optometrist. I'm interested in media, art, sport & outdoor. ;) I have several books I wish to digitalize (using them on my kindle). Now I'm using opticbook 3600, but the scanning takes to long for big and large books imo. And it takes away time ...
