Andy Scan software for android cameras

I'm am slowly, but surely making progress on my android app for using an android based camera in book scanning, so I thought I'd start a thread where I can get inundated with suggestions I can ignore :-). Read all about it here:

Bear in mind that this is a learning project for me, so if there are experienced android programmers out there who look at my code and wonder what the heck I'm doing, it isn't because I'm doing something really smart - it is because I don't know what I'm doing. I encourage android programmers to tell me why I'm an idiot so I can learn how to do this stuff better.

Just a progress update: I now have the app in a state that demonstrates everything I want to do is indeed possible. Just yesterday I took a picture and automatically uploaded it to a PHP uploader running under apache on my fedora 17 desktop. Now all I need to do is turn all the demo test code into a useful complete app. I'm thinking I might even be able to scan small pages (like paperbacks) with my 5MP phone camera (but I'll see what kind of images I get once I give it a try).
