"Booksorber" Postprocessing Software - Commercial

Post by aku »

Found at https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10532226, a reference to some new? software called Booksorber.
Their website at http://booksorber.com/index.php.
Going commercial route after initial funding via Indiegogo.

Anybody know them, have experience with it ?

Yeah, i installed the demo but for my case it did not work. The promised "auto alignment and dewarp" works perfectly with the samples but with my photos it did not even start to create a pdf. Instead an error was shown, but maybe i did something wrong. Seems that images need to have extremely good quality and very exact alignment. Since this software is written in Java, it is not the fastest tool out there.

But the tool convinced me to write my own software (BookBuilder, also slow Java), which does nearly the same, without GUI and a little less quality, but therefore completely automagically ;) My tool is free, perhaps you would like to check it out (only the page is german, the tool and helptext is english):

Thank you.

Being german by birth I have no trouble with reading and understanding that page. However for the sake of the majority of people here I should note that something on your page/website is interacting badly with translate.google.com, preventing it from doing actual translation from the url. I have to paste your page into the translate to get a translation. That makes it quite inconvenient for most here to read that page.

As a side note, while I use the CHDK I do not use the USB remote control. I use an intervalometer script instead, triggering a picture every 2 seconds. Enough time to flip the page between pictures. And should I get out of the rhythm and capture my hand, well, then I simply wait and have to a another god picture. The bad one is easy to see and remove in post.
